Meet 2Sistars
Charlotte Bossa
Charlotte Bossa has been writing since she was a teenager, starting out with short stories for her classmates to enjoy. In 2014, she left her finance and marketing job to pursue a career that aligned more with her passion for writing. Since then, she has written stories and articles for newspapers, magazines, and websites. Her story Mbale’s Boys to Men was shortlisted from among 3000 submissions for the World Nomads Travel writing competition in 2014. Back home, she has won prizes on several occasions from The Gathering, an initiative that brings together writers and poets residing in Kampala. She has been described as, having “uncompromising prose” and “writing relentlessly, with a brief pause for humor or quirkiness, but still taking the protagonist to their inevitable demise”.
Charlotte worked with one of Uganda’s leading media houses, The New Vision, in their creative department as a copywriter. She wrote scripts for commercials and copy for print ads for their in-house brands including magazines, radio, and television before leaving to pursue filmmaking. She has since acquired diverse experience in both theatre and film as a playwright, thespian, and assistant director in both Uganda and Kenya.
When she is not on a film set or conducting rehearsals, Charlotte watches movies, and does research for her future projects, a novel, and feature film.
